Babyshambles star Pete Doherty is following his fiancé into clothes design – he’s signed a deal with Gio-Goi to help produce their new range.
The singer has been recruited by the Manchester label – which was relaunched last year after originally coming to prominence as club wear in the early nineties – to help design their new collection, following hot on the heels of Kate Moss’ deal with Top Shop.
Gio-Goi co-founder Anthony Donnelly say Doherty is the inspiration behind the label’s spring/summer 2007 collection, and confirmed the 27-year-old - who continues to struggle with drug addiction - will wear the new designs at a secret gig in London sometime before Christmas.
He adds, “Peter looks fantastic as a model. We are very excited. We look forward to having Pete's influence as a rock icon in the design process."
