A peace activist from New Zealand has been jailed for eight months for attacking Les Incompetents front man Billy Leeson.
Christiaan Briggs pleaded guilty to charges of GBH after punching Leeson during a dispute on a bus in London in June.
The singer was left in a coma as a result of hitting head on a pavement curb during the attack but is now well on the way to a full recovery.
Snaresbrook Crown Court was told how Leeson needed resuscitating at the scene and later had to have a piece of his skull removed to relieve pressure from his brain.
On sentencing Judge Peter Birts told Briggs that though he had shown “genuine remorse” for the attack a prison sentence was inevitable.
Les Incompetents have since split and will play there farewell gig at the 100 Club in London on November 7.
