John Peel’s family have admitted that they are still unsure what is going to happen to his vast record collection.
Peel is estimated to have at least 25,000 records on vinyl with tens of thousands more on CD and other formats.
Speaking to the BBC, Peel’s daughter Alexandra Revenscroft said: “We’ve not had any discussions about what is going to happen to the collection in the long-term. For now it will stay at home.”
In the past it was thought that the British Library would house the collection, but so far it has remained in the family’s Suffolk home.
Last year, Peel’s wife Sheila told the Beeb’s World Service: “The records here are John and I can't imagine how we all would feel if, for whatever reason, they were suddenly removed from us. It would be just awful.
"At the moment, it makes us feel rather good that they're all here. And we play them."
