Patti Smith and Blondie are amongst the artists performing at the closing of the legendary CBGB venue this weekend.
Both artists alongside such acts as The Ramones and the Talking Heads made a name for themselves at the venue in the seventies.
Owner Hilly Kristal has been forced to close its doors after the landlords, the Bowery Residents Committee, upped the rent.
Patti Smith headlines on CBGB’s final night this Sunday evening, while Blondie perform an acoustic set on Saturday afternoon.
Kristal founded the venue in 1973 and gave it a full name of CBGB OMFUG which stands for Country, BlueGrass, Blues, and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers.
