After building a significant reputation as a notable live band, ‘Undercurrents,’ marks the debut release from this Manchester quartet. Commencing with a sense of anticipation, you might feel let down when the song breaks down into a synthesis of soft melody and minimal, yet, very deliberate lyrics, that has seen The Silent Parade compared with compatriots ‘The Doves’. However, don’t be disheartened as it eventually builds into a rousing little number with a dark, yet uplifting guitar giving it a delicate, powerful resonance. It’s just a shame the ‘ups and downs’ mean they seem to go the long way round to reach the end – which seems to arrive before the track has really got going.
