More Ian Brown
Ian Brown started off in a band with John Squire called The Patrol, where he played bass guitar. Thanks to soulman Geno Washington, Brown became frontman for one of the most revered British bands of the 80s and '90s the Stone Roses.
Although the group’s debut album is considered one of most important records of the decade in 1989, the band fizzled during the early '90s and eventually broke up. Eventually, Brown was the last original band member remaining. In his press release, he said it was "A relief to announce the end of Stone Roses" and called the music industry "The filthiest business in the universe." Guitarist/songwriter Squire formed the Seahorses, while bassist Gary Mounfield joined Primal Scream.
Brown’s post-Stone Roses career started with a 1998 solo LP, Unfinished Monkey Business, with ex-Roses replacement guitarist Aziz Ibrahim. Unfinished Monkey Business mixed of pop, funk, dance and rock tunes. His debut single, My Star, reached number 4 in the UK. Follow-up Golden Greats was a "great" album, and Music of the Spheres followed one year later.
