Sean Combs Forced To Axe 'Diddy' In The UK

Rapper Sean Combs can no longer use the moniker ‘Diddy’ in Britain, after he reached a settlement with a music producer already using the name.

The hip-hop megastar has agreed to pay Richard ‘Diddy’ Dearlove over £110,000 in an out of court settlement.

Richard Dearlove told The Guardian: “I’m happy and relieved.”

Dearlove, who has been working under the name of Diddy since 1992, is best known for his dance remix of Blondie’s ‘Atomic’, and his number 23 hit ‘Give Me Love’ in 1997.

Had Sean Combs not reached a settlement the case would have gone to the Royal Courts of Justice on October 23.

Sean Combs changed his name to P Diddy in 2001. Last year, he dropped the ‘P’ entirely from his name.

The agreement means he can no longer appear under the name of ‘Diddy’ on UK shores.
