It’s been rumoured that Jane's Addiction are splitting up again, this time for good.
A statement was posted on guitarist Dave Navarro's website. He claimed along with drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Chaney that it "It simply didn't work out."
The band, who originally formed in 1984, first split in 1991, but reformed temporarily for a tour, releasing their rarities album "Kettle Whistle" in 1997. They returned to work in 2002. Their third album ‘Strays’ was released last year but despite drawing critical raves, sold poorly.
A statement by the group has said: "We have broken up and rejoined roughly four times over the years... We do know that we really gave it everything we had this time and we actually made a really great record after so many years of silence."
They concluded by saying; "We would personally like to say, 'thank you' for all of the love and support you have shown us over the years, we greatly appreciate it and we love you."
The band cancelled a series of live dates last December after their frontman Perry Farrell said they needed a break due to the rigorous touring schedule and a need to find a new perspective for 2004.
Despite this, their US Lollapalooza touring festival, scheduled this summer, was cancelled after poor ticket sales.
