REM are set to unite with original drummer Bill Berry for a one-off performance in Georgia.
Berry will perform three songs with the band when they are inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in Atlanta on September 16.
The drummer quit the band in 1997 and over the past eight years has made three rare outings with Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills.
In April this year Billy Berry joined REM to perform the 1991 track ‘Country Feedback’ in their native Athens during a performance of Buck’s side project Minus 5.
The band’s manager Bertis Downs said that while the band are rehearsing in the studio for the show they are "considering recording something for a yet-to-be-announced charitable project."
