Keane - 'Crystal Ball' (Island) Released 21/08/06

Keane, the proverbial bed wetters and Gigwise whipping boys, played a nasty trick on us all a few months ago by releasing a song (Is It Any Wonder) that was actually pretty damn good. Luckily they are back to their pissy sheets worst on ‘Crystal Ball’ a song so vapid and futile that it makes their previous output sound like Slayer in comparison. ‘Crystal Ball’ fits neatly into the Radio 2, Sunday morning anonymous bilge that we have come to expect from our stadium filling bands with soaring vocals, big production and about as much warmth and heart as a dead Eskimo. No doubt this will crash into the top 10 and have thousands of dullards swaying in time to it, lets just say Gigwise won’t be one of them.
