Duran Duran have announced plans to broadcast live gigs from the virtual online gaming world of Second Life.
They will follow in the footsteps of Radio 1 who set up a virtual island in the 3D world and recreated their One Big Weekend event in May.
For those of you not in the know Second Life is a 3D online world which is designed, created and owned by the inhabitants with over 370,000 characters currently taking part and covering virtual landscape with the equivalent real world size of 20,000 acres.
Speaking about the project Nick Rhodes told the BBC: "Second Life has brought a third dimension to the internet; it is the new frontier where dreams have become reality.”
"When the video revolution began we instantly saw the opportunity to experiment and explore a new form of expression to enhance the musical experience. Second Life is the future right now, offering endless possibilities for artists."
Three dimensional recreations, otherwise known as avatars, have been commissioned by the band and will be unveiled shortly.
