More details of the new biopic tracing the life of INXS front man Michael Hutchence have been announced.
Entitled ‘Sliding Away’ the project is being headed by Clark Westerman and Nick Egan who directed several of INXS’s music videos as well as working with Oasis, Kylie Minogue and Motely Crue.
They began working on the film after being unimpressed by last year’s ‘Rock Star: INXS’ wanted to make a movie about Hutchence before his legacy became tarnished.
Westerman told Reuters: "I said, 'Somebody else is going to do it, and they are not going to do it as well as you would because you knew him so well.’”
Hutchence died in 1997 amid a flurry of tabloid interest in an apparent suicide attempt though many have speculated that it was as a result of autoerotic asphyxiation.
Westerman added: "That is not the memory of what we are after, and that's not the story of who the man is. What we are aiming for is the journey through a person's life via their head."
