Massive Attack have been working with TV On The Radio on their new album, ‘Weather Underground’.
The trip-hop pioneers drafted in the Brooklyn-based band for their fifth studio album, as well regular collaborators Horace Andy and ex-Cocteau Twin Liz Fraser.
However, the bad news is Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja – 3D – doesn’t anticipate making it back into the studio until next year after postponing record sessions to tour America for the first time in eight years.
He tells Billboard, “I guess we'll see at Christmas how many songs we think are really good, how many are just OK and how much we've got to do after a Christmas break. Obviously we want to get it out next year."
Del Naja does say new material will be tried out on their American fans when their tour kicks off next month.
He explains, “Some things have been more successful live than others, but we've got a couple of things to show people. When people don't know the songs yet you can mess with them and then adjust them when you get back in the studio. Radiohead do it quite a lot. It's a good way of doing things."
