Art Brut have revealed that they currently have “seven or eight” songs for their second album.
The follow up to 2004’s ‘Bang Bang Rock n Roll’ is planned for release in early 2007 via their newly found home of Mute.
Jasper Future told Pitchfork of the new material: "We've got the music done, and we're just waiting for Eddie to write the words. That takes a bit longer. Eddie's an artist. He needs time to think...We'll be, ‘Have you written the words?' And he'll say, ‘The best way for me to write is on this sofa with my eyes shut.'"
To which Argos responded: "One time, I was ‘writing' with my eyes shut, and I woke up and they had four new songs."
One song set to appear on the record is the track ‘Direct Hit’ which they performed at last weekends Pitchfork Music Festival, Gigwise’s coverage of which you can read here and here.
