The Flaming Lips Plan First Live Album

The Flaming Lips have announced plans to release their first ever live album which they hope to release in early 2007.

They recently recorded their show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (July 23) where they performed mainly ‘At War With The Mystics’ tracks and plan to record more at their homecoming in Oklahoma City where they plan to incorporate older songs from their back catalogue.

However, fans will have to wait for the CD and DVD because the band don’t want to rush the release, Michael Ivins told Billboard: "We never want to rush stuff out and say, 'Hey, look, it's out for Christmas'".

Ivins also revealed what Wayne Coyne has up his sleeve for his next stage prop following the use of huge hands and Santa Claus’ at recent shows.

He said:  "Perhaps you've heard about our UFO we're trying to build for the stage? It's not quite ready yet. We're going to see if we can do it every show or just do it a few times a year."

"That's how we do a lot of stuff - we'll think of something and then we'll figure out how to do it afterwards."
