Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey have fallen out over webcasting of their current European tour dates.
As previously reported on Gigwise, the pair had agreed to make available the shows for a nominal fee of $10 which went to charity.
However, Towshend has revealed his frustration with Daltrey on his website blog over several posts after the front man said he had concerns about the project saying he felt “exploited”.
He wrote: “Roger seems to think when I provide bandwidth for the Who website, and for Live streaming, he is being exploited in some way and wants a piece of the future ‘profit.’ Don’t think there is much chance of profit when it is all aimed at charity.”
He added: “Seriously, he seems to be unconvinced that the web has any real contribution to make to our career, and I am not going to spend any more time or money mortgaging my half of the stage – though I may webcast some Who shows and not show Roger at all. Only kidding.”
Townshend has even set up an email address here for fans to write to Daltrey to help convince him the webcasts are a good idea.
In later posts he reveals that though the two have been in the band together for over forty years he still doesn’t them close friends.
“Roger is my partner in the Who,” Townshend writes. “He is not my partner in anything else. We love each other but we are not regular social buddies like Bono and Edge, we do not discuss or share ideas, and we have no unified joint vision or strategy for the Who or for creative projects in general.”
