Paul Weller

Paul Weller’s career is now into its fourth decade, the ‘Modfather’ began in the 1970’s fronting The Jam, the most popular British band of the punk era, before starting The Style Council in 1983. After Polydor rejected The Style Council’s fifth, house-influenced album in 1989, Weller broke the band up and went his own way.

In 1992 Weller released his eponymous solo debut, which entered the album charts at no 8 and received positive reviews. Weller’s second album ‘Wild Wood’ entered the charts at no 2 in 1993 and received the Ivor Novello Award for ‘Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection’. 1995’s ‘Stanley Road’ album proved to be Weller’s biggest success since The Jam, songs like ‘You Do Something To Me’ and ‘The Changing Man’ helped to seal his iconic status within the Brit-Pop scene. Weller followed up the success of ‘Stanley Road’ with 1997’s ‘Heavy Soul’, before releasing a greatest hits album; ‘Modern Classics’ in 1998. 2000 saw the release of ‘Heliocentric’, which was warmly received by critics and fans alike but then returned to form again with his last album, 2002’s ‘Illumination’.
