Morrissey has paid tribute to the recently deceased Syd Barrett by dedicating a song to him at the Benicassim Festival last night.
The former Smiths singer – who shares a quintessential Englishness with the former Pink Floyd frontman – dedicated ‘I’ll Never Be Anybody’s Hero Now’ to Syd, who passed away earlier this month.
In other Benicassim news, Franz Ferdinand were helped out by fellow Scot, Scott Paterson – guitarist with Sons & Daughters – during their set.
‘Fifth member’ Andy Knowles, who usually plays guitar on stage, had moved to the drum seat as regular sticksman Paul Thomson had bowed out to be with his wife who has just given birth.
