More Hot Club De Paris Fan-bloody-tastic indie label Moshi Moshi are starting their own singles imprint.
The imaginatively titled ‘Moshi Moshi Singles’ will be launched this autumn, with artists already confirmed for releases including Matt & Kim, Emmy The Great, Dananananaykroyd and Simian's Mobile Disco.
Each release will be in a 7” format with a band designed colour sleeve and limited to just 1000 copies.
Unlike other singles clubs like Regal and Shifty Disco, the Moshi Moshi singles won’t be held to a monthly timescale and will be released as and when.
Joint label head Michael McCartney said: "You could say Moshi Moshi has been built on one-off single releases. Its how the label got its name known, and its how we got the opportunity to work with great bands like Bloc Party and The Rakes.
“However, in the past couple of years we've been moving away from one-off releases to concentrate on developing bands over albums starting with Hot Chip, then Architecture In Helsinki, Tilly and The Wall, Lo-Fi-Fnk and Hot Club de Paris.
“But there's still so much more we want to do. Plus we have a slightly nerdy teenage attachment to the 7". There's something wonderfully genuine and indulgent about just releasing a single because you like the band or the song. Especially at a time when there is so much great music around and the 7" market is thriving”.
