In a rare example of humility Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell has admitted he was “naïve” to slag off other bands in the press.
The tight-trousered frontman has had a serious of infamous spats with a range of musicians ranging from Pete Doherty to the Arctic Monkeys – but Borrell has blamed the media for jumping on his child-like understanding of how the press works and encouraging for his motor-mouth.
He says, “One thing I've been getting a lot of in the past two years is perspective. When I started out I was naive about the press and I probably did slag a lot of other bands off."
However, rallying his gargantuan ego, he adds to the Daily Star, “I regret nothing. There were a lot of bands that started out at the same time as us. We were new boys in the playground showing off. Us and Kasabian - that's silly. I saw them on TV and they were so clearly into what they do.”
Borrell has been noticeably quiet on the slagging front for some time now despite attempts by bands such as The Kooks to get a bit of easy publicity by sticking the knife into him. He has instead been concentrating on telling everyone how fantastic his own band is.
