Korova have officially the 9 hundredth band name taken name from 'A Clockwork Orange', but their debut single immediately makes this forgivable. It's edgy visceral indie rock with clanging guitars and vocalist KikiKorova (yes they've done the whole Ramones name thing) adding passionate squealing vocals. He squawks "Just like Peter Cook these thoughts will be wrote down in a book…just like Dudley Moore you left." Great to see such British icons of yesteryear being imaginatively used in such a way. We're not so sure about the lyrical motif repeated through the rest of the song, though – "I smoke these cigarettes, they remind me there's romance in cancer." In bad taste? Surely the only romance in cigarettes come from er James Dean in 'Rebel without a Cause' or maybe er Christian Slater and Winona Ryder in 'Heathers' for a more contemporary reference. We're rambling... this is a bloody great tune.
