The Go! Team have warned off commercial exploitation of their music – they’ve even turned down Richard & Judy.
Band leader Ian Parton is determined not to let his music become rinsed out by constantly appearing on random TV programmes, and is thus proud to have disappointed the cuddly husband and wife presenting team.
He tells the Scotsman, “When we can stop our music being used on TV shows, we will. I've said no to Richard & Judy. They wanted to use us for some feature on nannying.
“I heard 'Junior Kickstart' on a skiing programme once and that was pretty cool but it's gutting when you hear your music used as background for home makeovers."
Parton, obviously a Bill Hicks fan, also says he’s completely against cashing in on his tunes by licensing them for TV adverts, unlike some unnamed Liverpool bands we won’t mention.
He says, “We've just turned down a McDonald's ad."
No lifetime supply of McFlurry’s for him then…
