Hard though it is to believe, it's now 10 years since Placebo burst onto the scene in 1996 with 'Nancy Boy', a feedback drenched dose of trashy guitar that in three minutes manage to sound like what Brett Anderson and Suede had spent five years trying to perfect. The band, and in particular their bisexual goth midget leader Brian Molko, have had many ups and downs since then, but with an established fanbase and no need to even try and conform to the current music scene, they are perhaps enjoying their best creative spell. Recent album 'Meds' was certainly a return to form and 'Infra Red' is the third single to be taken from that record and it's a fine effort at that, full of sinister intent, with the singer telling his target that there is no escape, that he will find them: "One last time before I shuffle off the planet, I will be the one to make you crawl." Creepy and unsettling it may be, but it's definitely a tune.
