Green Day have inadvertently saved a young girl’s life after she found a hand grenade in her back garden.
12-year-old Ruby Wilson from Halifax was clearing leaves when she found the weapon, which she immediately recognised from the front sleeve of ‘American Idiot.’
When she told her Dad, he called in the army who carried out a controlled explosion at a nearby school playing field.
It’s believed that the grenade was in Ruby’s garden because the house was built on the site of a former weapons factory.
