Session Musicians Get Their Own Hall Of Fame

    They're no longer unknown...

June 14, 2006 by Daniel Melia

A new Hall Of Fame in America is set to highlight the work of the much underappreciated backing and session artists from around the world.

The museum in Nashville was the idea of singer/songwriter Joe Chambers and will pay tribute to musicians who have played alongside more lauded artists from all genres.

Chambers told the BBC: "The public hasn't been given the information or the opportunity to know who is playing on a lot of those records."

The Hall of Fame will feature a host of instruments, movies and photos charting the history of session musicians and backing bands.

"It means a lot, obviously, to the families and to anyone who stood in the shadow for so long. The way the museum is set up, everyone from grandparents to their grandkids can come and find somebody they're interested in," Chambers added.

A music school has already been set up alongside the museum and a fully operational studio will open soon.
