We really don’t think Wichita Records want me to review LA’s newly signed The Drips' new single. First, itunes is convinced they’re called ‘The Imps.’ Second, their website contains absolutely no information about them, apart from a comically bad music video, in which a fat bloke in a trucker cap wanders around a bridge shouting a bit, while 4 other shifty looking chaps hover in the background. Even their myspace simply has the words "**** You In The Side Of Your Neck!" written in bold across the top. But, in the interests of journalistic integrity, here goes… ‘16,16, Six’ (no idea, sorry – think it’s about shagging barely legal teenagers) is a derivative, crusty rock record that a six-year-old would find amusing if it didn’t take itself so seriously. Sounding like bad 80’s hair metal played by a Mexican Distillers cover band, this is as annoyingly bad as any band out of the currently terrible LA scene. Lyrics like “I never meant to watch you diiiieeeeeee” should probably tell you all you need to know about The Drips. Avoid at all costs.
