Akron/Family are reportedly in the process of putting the finishing touches to a new album set for a September release.
With a working title of ‘Akron/Family Is Empty’ the record will once again be issued via Young God sometime in Septmber.
Seth Olinsky told Pitchfork that the album will mostly feature songs written "in the van the few weeks prior to the studio time, while we were all freezing in the wintery hinderlands of middle Canada, wheezing with bronchitis."
The album was produced by the band themselves with a little help from Michael Gira and Griffin Rodriguez while Broken Social Scene popped into the studio for a days recording too.
Amazingly the band plan to record a new album sometime in October/November after sometime spent touring ‘Akron/Family Is Empty’.
