Thanks to a glorious nonsensical press release, we know these things about Moco.
1. Singer Steve Jones once pissed in Kate Moss’ sink.
2. A member of their group once worked in B&Q
3. The music weeklies like them so much they threatened to bare their spotty adolescent arses out of a shop window if they weren’t famous soon.
4. They are ‘frantic’ a lot. Both live, and presumably in B&Q
However, it tells us nothing about their music. At all. Apart from the ‘frantic’ bit. And after a quick listen to their ‘Twice Bitten Once Shy’ EP, sent on a blank CD-R, the cheap bastards, we now know these things about Moco:
1. They certainly sound like quite a few bands that we like.
2. Really, really like a few bands we like. Like The Strokes. And the Rolling Stones. And a couple of Kaiser Chiefs songs.
3. Seriously, are they just a really, really good cover band?
4. They are pretty damn frantic, if frantic means “gibbering sub-Datsuns lyrics over a cover of ‘Kick Out The Jams’ by the MC5.”
Moco, we're sure will be absolutely huge over the next few years. They’ve tunes aplenty and enough rock n’ roll swagger to reduce any sweaty fleapit to ruins in an instant. Pity we’ve heard it all before.
