Korn – ‘Coming Undone’ (Virgin) Released 12/06/06

Big budget studio production is used so often these days as the musical polish of a songwriting turd.  It doesn’t bode well, therefore, that this second single from Korn’s seventh long-player, See You On The Other Side, finds Jonathan Davis and co collaborating with Britney and Avril knob-twiddling team The Matrix.  Less of a song, more of an exercise in Pro-Tooled sludgy guitar grooves, ‘Coming Undone’ is exactly what you’d expect of the Bakersfield four: nondescript pain and angst chiselled into the soundtrack for a glossy promo video.  But no amount of CGI is going to hide the lack of musicality shown here.
