The Open Call It A Day

The Open have decided to call it a day after two albums and four years together.

The Liverpool fivesome say they have no regrets and they are looking forward to the future.

Speaking on their official website, they said: “I believe you are waiting for the official word. So here it is. The news is that we have indeed decided to call the it a day with The Open.

“We leave the two records that we are very very proud of and memories that will remain in our hearts forever. Some of us will continue on our path through music. Some of us will not. We all wish each other the greatest of luck.”

“No excuses, no regrets, no big philosophical kiss off, its just the end of one journey and the start of another. Bless you all for your support over these last years and goodbye. Steve, Jon, Jim, Alan and Roger.”

    • an excellent band these were. one of the few to completely do their own thing and still knock out some bloody good tunes in the process. i’ll miss them.

    • What does ’do their own thing’ mean? Write crap music?

    • very funny. however, you’ve failed to recognise one fundamental flaw in your recognition and understanding of the english language. when one person says something, it does not actually mean that meant something different. anyway, if you listen to either of their two albums, you’ll see that they sound like no-one else, and especially on the most recent they broke their own rules and experimented lots with their music.
