Run-Over Ricky Wilson: I'm The Luckiest Man Alive!

Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson has dubbed himself “the luckiest man in the world” after being run over last weekend.

The frontman was mowed down by a hit and run driver in his native Leeds last Sunday, but managed to escape with broken toe and fingers after launching into a "trademark jump" to roll over the car, instead of being trapped underneath.

A relieved Ricky told reporters at the Ivor Novello Awards, “I feel like the luckiest man in the world. I've only broken my toe and the fingers on my right hand but I had a real shock.

"I was lying shaken on the ground, but managed to call an ambulance. I was trying to be very manly about it and pretend there was no problem but I was pretty dazed. I can't talk too much about it because there is a police investigation."

It would therefore be wrong for us to joke that eye-witnesses report the car's driver sported a bowl hair-cut and over-sized eyebrows.

Wilson is now hobbling about on crutches, but the band will still perform their upcoming gigs in Holland and Germany.
