50 Cent has been crowned ‘songwriter of the year’ by a prestigious panel of music industry figures.

Other winners on the night were Green Day who claimed one of the songs of the year with ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ and also received the creative voice award.

The other act sharing the song of the year with Green Day was Mariah Carey with ‘We Belong Together’, penned by Jermaine Dupri., Johnta Austin and Manuel Seal.

Annie Lennox was given the Founders Award for her inspiring work as a solo artist and The Eurythmics.
