Finland’s monster-costume wearing metal merchants Lordi have ended years of hurt by winning tonight’s Eurovision Song.
Lordi, thought to be the first heavy rock band to scoop the kitsch competition’s top spot, wowed the European judges with their flamboyant, hair-flailing ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah’.
Finland, who, with no previous top five finish, had the worst Eurovision record of all the competing countries, beat second placed Russia by a convincing 44 points, with Bosnia & Herzegovina coming in third.
Britain’s rap entry from Daz Sampson finished sixth last with only 25 points.
