Single title of the week goes to Camera Obscura with ‘Lloyd I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken’, a glossy slice of indie pop magic. The band were a late favourite of John Peels and it is easy to see why. ‘Lloyd’ combines the sweet vocals of Tracy Anne Campbell with the rest of Camera Obscuras epic but intimate musical sensibilities. Lyrically the same three or four lines are repeated over and over but when they are as beautifully simple as “You can stay a girl by holding a boys hand” it doesn’t matter how many times you hear it. Taken from the album ‘Underachievers Try Harder’ there is no need for Camera Obscura to try harder, they have cracked it.
