Liam Frost was first a face on the Manchester music scene at 15 when he was faking ID's to play at Akoustic Anarchy nights back in 1998. The next few years were spent in shouty punk bands before returning to his acoustic roots and going solo in 2003. His songs were poignantly centred around his feelings towards death of which he an all too close relationship with following the loss of both his father and brother.

Adding The Slowdown Family to his already polished set saw the band picked up by small indie label Lavolta Records. They describe their sound as "like James Younger, but camper and more emo". They are are often likened to a British version of The Shins and were once famously described as "Britain's answer to Bright Eyes" By Guy Garvey of fellow Manchester band Elbow.

Liam Frost and The Slowdown Family released three singles, 'She Painted Pictures', 'The Mourners of St. Pauls' and 'The City Is At Standstill' prior to their September 2006 debut album 'Show Me How The Spectre's Dance'. The enchanting single 'The Mourner's of St. Pauls' headed the Channel 4 Planet Sound single of the year list for 2006.
