Pete Doherty has claimed the pictures of him injecting a unconscious female with drugs were “staged”.
Writing on his website before his arrest yesterday by police investigating the story, Doherty criticised The Sun newspaper for publishing the photographs – which he claims were stolen from his flat.
He writes, “Just a note to note the unjust Sun's disturbing and ridiculously offensive 'story'. Firstly the photo's are stolen from my flat so... upsetting and personally catastrophic... how rude, secondly its a staged shot and what a ****ing liberty to suggest I'd bang up a sleeping lass. Darkness.”
Doherty has been released on police bail following his arrest on a East London street at 8am yesterday morning.
A police spokesperson said the Babyshambles frontman will have to return for questioning in July, pending further inquiries.
