50 Cent has reassured fans his rap mentor Eminem is “going to be alright”, despite the shooting of his best friend earlier this month.
Friends have feared for Eminem’s state of mind after his D-12 bandmate Proof was shot in a Michigan nightclub so soon after the collapse of his remarriage to Kim after only three months of wedlock.
However, 50 Cent has said the star is gradually coming to terms with the loss.
He says, “He's coming along. He's going be alright. I mean, it was definitely a big loss for him. Proof was actually his best friend in the world from forever."
The rapper added that society, rather than hip-hop’s violent lyrics, were responsible for Proof’s untimely death.
He explained, "I think that the violence that happened to Proof and the violence that's happening across America right now has nothing to do with hip-hop.
"It has something to do with the people - the state of them - and the music doesn't alter that."
