The Strokes’ guitar-hero Nick Valensi has hooked up with his New York pal Regina Spektor to record a track for her new album.
Valensi has laid down parts for Spektor’s track Better, which features on the singer-songwriter’s upcoming long player Begin To Hope.
However, despite Valensi having already played with Spektor with the rest of his band on Modern Girls & Old Fashion Men – the B side to Strokes’ single Reptilia – it was his quintessentially “cool” reputation that got him the gig.
Spektor drawls to Rolling Stone, "Did I know that I was going to have him play? No. It was like 'Well, do we know any really cool guitarists?' And then he came in."
