The Flies - 'The Temptress' (Genepool) Released 17/04/06

As an ex-member of Spiritualized, The Flies lynchpin Sean Cook is no stranger sweeping orchestral arrangements and naturally puts them to good use here. Except, ‘The Temptress’ is imbued with a very beguiling ‘belly-dance-music, come Disney soundtrack, come dark seductive ode’ kind of vibe. Dollop on top Cook’s whispery, feigned vocals and the odd oboe flutter and really you’re left wondering whether to admire the man’s balls for attempting something different or to frantically reach for the stop button. We’ll opt for the former.
