The Rolling Stones rocked Shanghai yesterday with their first ever gig in China as part of their ‘Bigger Bang’ tour.
The band played all of their classics but as previously reported on Gigwise were stopped from performing some songs such as ‘Brown Sugar’ and ‘Honky Tonk Woman’ by the Chinese authorities.
The ageing rockers played to more 8,000 people, mainly westerners, at the Grand Stage music hall and even invited Chinese rock legend Cui Jian up on stage to sing ‘Wild Horses’ with them.
Before the gig Mick Jagger told the BBC of the song censorship: "Fortunately, we have 400 more songs that we can play so it's not really an issue."
During in the show he shouted to the crowd that the band were planning to return to play another show in China.
The Rolling Stones were due to play a gig in China in 2003 but were forced to cancel after the SARS outbreak.
