    Ex Wonder Stuff Drummer Martin Gilks Dies

    At the age of 41...

    Martin Gilks, former drummer with the Wonderstuff, has died in London following a motorcycle accident.

    Gilks, who enjoyed success with tracks such ‘Welcome To The Cheap Seats’ and ‘The Size Of A Cow’ with the band, had more recently worked as a manager for bands such as Reef, Hundred Reasons and A.

    A spokesperson for his company, Furtive, said: "He was greatly loved by many and will be sorely missed by all his family and friends."

    He died on Monday (April 3) in St Georges Hospital, Tooting as a result of internal injuries following the accident on Sunday reports the BBC.

    Gilks was a member of The Mighty Lemon Drops before linking up with The Wonder Stuff and played in shows during a band reunion in 2000.

    He leaves a son and a daughter.

    • The Stuffies were my Beatles. Thanks Gilksy for helping me swim through the porridge of adolescence. I met him at Carlisle once, prior to a gig. He was with ’Fiddly’, had just lost the long hair and let it slip that things were imploding bandwise. They sat among us and very few knew who they were. But I did, and when I sat with them and they signed my ticket, I was shaking like a leaf. Lady luck couldn’t wish you more luck than I. Steal your peace.
