This Floating World

Hailing from Sheffield come This Floating World, now the Steel City is producing numerous Jam style rock 'n' roll riot type bands but TFW are a completely different kettle of fish altogether. They make epic yet vulnerable ballads accompanied by an orchestra and angelic backing vocals; stick that in your pipe Alex Turner!

This Flaming World, reminiscent of Spiritualized or the much underrated Stars, start off with the beautifully majestic 'Ghosts'. The track soars with humongous vocals backed by even bigger orchestral arrangements.A minor criticism would be that the EP never really picks up any pace, all four tracks meander along at the same slow rate and by the time you get to 'Lost and Found' you will be reaching for the stop button.

Individually though all four songs showcased by This Floating World show the bands theatrical yet sweet tunes to perfection. They might come from the Steel City but there is nothing industrial about this band, they are sweet, light and refined.
