Damon Albarn’s cartoon band Gorillaz are reportedly splitting at the end of the year.
Bandmember Remi Kabaka, who 'plays' Gorillaz’s drummer Russel, has been reported telling a friend that the massively successful animated ‘virtual band’ will go their separate ways to pursue personal projects.
The Daily Mirror quotes Remi saying, “Gorillaz will split by the end of the year. We'll wind down by September and by Christmas there will be a break.
"The band is made up of a lot of musicians and it needs a lot of work - many of them, like me, are always doing other projects.
"Doing the American dates, when we are all in each other's pockets, can also take it out of you.”
