Intimate Fall Gig Decends Into Chaos

A Fall gig at the very intimate Cartoon Club in Croyden descended into chaos last night (March 12).

The band arrived on stage later than expected and were soon hit by major sound problems.

Mark E Smith then got into a furious row with a guitarist which culminated in Smith throwing his microphone at his head.

The debacle ended with Mr Smith grabbing his wife’s hand and storming through the crowd after a very brief 30 minutes.

Last night’s show was the first of four at the 300 capacity London Cartoon Club.

Things can surely only get better?!

    • he didn’t throw anything at anyone but it was a surprisingly short set. the Cartoon DJ played a blinding set by the way!

    • The Siberian Mushroom Santa was in fact Rasputin’s mad brother, and, the final gig (on Wednesday) was excellent, hard, fast, very tight. No arguments, no nonsense, took me back to Chorley Leisure centre in 1980 where I last saw them, same psychic energy level. I dig repetition.

    • It was an intense gig with high tensions. MES didn’t ’throw’ his microphone at Ben, he just nearly caught his head when he was swinging the stand out of the way. It didn’t look intentional. They has obvious problems with equipment and later on MES did throw his microphone but it wasn’t at anyone (it was sulky throw to the floor). A short but great gig. Mark E Smith is certainly fascinating to watch.
