Gary Glitter Found Guilty Of Child Abuse

Gary Glitter has been found guilty and jailed for three years after a Vietnamese court found him guilty of molesting two girls.

The 61 year old former glam rock star said that the verdict was “unbelievable” and part of a “conspiracy” according to the BBC, he said to reporters: "I haven't done anything - I am innocent. It is a conspiracy by you know who."

Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, could be released within a year and would then be deported from the country possibly back to the UK.

Summing up and sentencing Judge Hoang Thanh Tung said: "His lewd acts have compromised the dignity of the Vietnamese people, law and common sense, and therefore it is necessary to punish him."

Glitter was also ordered to pay 5m Vietnamese Dong (£180) to the victim’s families, his lawyer said he has yet to decide whether or not to appeal.
