Giant Drag are Californian duo Annie Hardy (Vocals/Guitar) and Micah Calbarese (Drums/Keyboards - at the same time -yeah, it’s going to take a while for the novelty of that one to wear off).
Before the band, Micah played with a band called Radio 4 (not that one) whilst Annie previously played keyboard with friends in a band called Shrinkwrap. The Giant Drag chapter of this story started with a “sweet ass cover of who’s crying now by Journey”, as Annie declares on the band’s homepage. The band quickly moved on to perform Annie’s original songs (with an odd cover, such as Chris Issack’s Wicked Game). They played their first gig in June 2003 at The Scene in L.A. and have gone on to tour with the likes of The Like, The Cribs and Nine Black Alps. In 2005 the band released their much acclaimed debut album, Hearts And Unicorns. Full of fuzzed-out, guitar driven rock n roll, with a healthy helping of pop melodies, it’s a sound that continues to charm at the band’s often-infamous live shows.
