Madonna notched up her twelfth UK number one at the weekend, after ‘Sorry’ stormed to the top of the charts.
It’s her second number one from her chart-topping album ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor’ and comes 21 years after her first number one – ‘Into the Groove’.
Madge fought off competition from Corrine Bailey Rae who came in at number two with ‘Put Your Records On’ and Leo Sayer who fell to number 3. The Darkness came in at number eight.
Meanwhile, in the albums chart, the UK public continued with their infatuation with balnd singer-songwriters putting Jack Johnson to the albums top spot.
The number one comes after Johnson won the Best International Breakthrough Act at the Brits the other week.
