It has been revealed that US singer Sheryl Crow has had surgery for breast cancer.
The star, who surprisingly broke up with fiancée Lance Armstrong earlier this month, had surgery on Wednesday and will now undergo radiation therapy.
Her publicist asserted that: “Her doctors think her prognosis is excellent,” however, she has still had to postpone her North American tour which was scheduled to kick off next month.
It is not known when Crow was diagnosed with the disease, but on her website she urges women to have regular check-ups:
"Approximately one in seven American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and more than 2m Americans are living with breast cancer today," she said.
"I am joining the more than 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year."
Former fiancée, Armstrong who himself survived testicular cancer, commented:
"Once again I'm reminded of just how pervasive this illness is, as it has now touched someone I love deeply."
"Based on my contact in recent days with Sheryl, her doctor and her family, I am confident that she will have a full and complete recovery and the world will be a better place for it," he added to the BBC.
