Dilated Peoples – 'Back Again' (Parlophone) Released 13/02/06

After hooking up with hip-hop’s top dog Kayne West on their last album, Dilated Peoples are looking to finally garner some mainstream success to match their respected reputation. Despite Rakaa assuring us he “writes rhymes not cheques”, Back Again’s cameo-laden video and sped-up sample (a West trademark) undoubtedly strive for MTV-compatibility. However, the track is more suited to some heavy dance-floor action – as demonstrated by the fact Rakaa and Evidence keep demanding reeeewinds from the most phat DJ Babu.
