The streets are awash with bands harbouring Joy Division fixations - but 'Paper Cut Moon' demonstrates the Cherubs may well stay afloat whilst their fellow post-punk merchants are washed away by the next wave of fashion. Whilst framed in the same grandiose malady as, say, Interpol, the single shows off a brighter sensibility, which helps it sail above the norm. The tinkle of glockenspiel – not an instrument common to angular guitar aficionados – compliments a bopping bassline, no doubt the fruit of working with producer Gareth Parton, brother and collaborator to Go! Team mastermind Ian Parton.
